We need committee members
The Board of Directors have established a number of committees to support the work of the Board. Each committee is chaired by a member of the Board; however, membership of each committee is open to all community members of Salem and Keizer. Committee involvement is a great place to develop your skills as well as contribute to the vitality and ongoing sustainability of the YWCA of Salem.
A brief description of each committee is provided below. Experience/knowledge of the committee area would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite.
Finance Committee:
The Finance Committee's responsibilities are to oversee the preparation of the annual budget and to present it to the Board. The committee oversees the annual operating budget through monthly monitoring of the financial operations. The Finance Committee also reviews the YWCA financial and investment policies annually. Finance Committee meets the once a month at noon at the YWCA.
Nominations Committee:
The role of the Nominations Committee is to review applications and nominations of those who would like to be board members of the YWCA of Salem. This committee meets as needed.
Development Committee:
The Development Committee leads the Board's participation in resource development and fundraising. The committee works with staff to develop the agency's fundraising plan. The committee develops policies, plans, procedures, and schedules for Board involvement in fundraising. It helps educate the Board about the resources needed to realize the Association's program plans. It familiarizes the Board with fundraising skills and techniques so Directors are comfortable with raising money.
The committee may set minimum guidelines for Director contributions and assists the Board president in soliciting those contributions. With the assistance of the Board and staff, it also plays a strong role in identifying, cultivating, and approaching major donors. This committee meets once a month.
