Da Vinci Girls

Da Vinci Girls, Science, Math, and Technology for girls

Spring 2007 Session

This session we are featuring “Toy Workshop” at four Salem-Keizer schools. The girls will be learning about science and math concepts while creating and designing their own toys.

The completion party will be held at A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village on June 7th from 6:00-7:30pm. This is an essential part of reinforcing how exciting these disciplines are for our participants. We provide a chance for girls to receive certificates, share projects with friends and family, and enjoy an evening of exploration and fun.

2007-2008 Program

Schools are encouraged to schedule a session for next year as soon as possible! Currently we are visiting 3-4 schools per session, and we want to make sure to reserve a spot for your school. Interest and demand to offer our program throughout the valley from faculty, staff, parents, and students has required us to pre-schedule schools for the upcoming year.

Please contact us today to reserve a spot for your school next year! We look forward to working with you to bring this exciting program to your girls!

Empowering women through education

The YWCA Da Vinci Girls Program is an after school program for girls in 3rd-5th grades that explores areas of science, math, and technology.

The YWCA of Salem is partnered with A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village to offer exciting curriculums. We feature sessions such as “Amazing Astronaut Adventures,” “Tremendous Toy Workshop,” “Physics of Toys,” and many others.

The Da Vinci Girls program teaches girls that science, math and technology are fun by demonstrating this through hands on experiments and activities. The YWCA strives to help girls realize their potential to succeed in jobs where they have been traditionally underrepresented.

Grants from United Way, the Salem Foundation and the Gannett Foundation have assisted us in providing this extraordinary opportunity. Sponsorships from community organizations and individual donations have been instrumental in making this program come to life.
