Da Vinci Girls, Science, Math, and Technology for girls

Empowering young women through educationYWCA Salem Da Vinci Girls Program is an after school program for girls in 3rd-5th grades that explores areas of science, math, and technology. YWCA Salem is a partner with A.C. Gilbert’s Discovery Village offering exciting curriculums. We feature sessions such as “Amazing Astronaut Adventures,” “Tremendous Toy Workshop,” “Physics of Toys,” and many others. The Da Vinci Girls program teaches girls that science, math and technology are fun by demonstrating this through hands on experiments and activities. The YWCA strives to help girls realize their potential to succeed in jobs where they have been traditionally underrepresented. Grants from the George and Laura Kreitzberg Memorial Fund, the Humanist Association of Salem, Oregonians for Science and Reason, Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Rotary Club of Salem and the Salem Rotary Foundation, and Wells Fargo have assisted us in providing this extraordinary opportunity. Sponsorships from community organizations and individual donations have been instrumental in making this program come to life. If you are interested in sponsoring a YWCA Salem Da Vinci Girls session or if you have questions about the program contact us today! Volunteers NeededVolunteers are a critical part of our ability to offering after school programming to the girls in our community. We need assistance in our classrooms and at our Completion Parties to help with hands-on activities and event planning. Please visit Hands on Mid-Willamette Valley to sign up as a volunteer for the YWCA and other exciting organizations. You will find all the YWCA’s volunteer opportunities listed there. |
